Despite the escalating climate crisis, many people remain disengaged from the urgency of climate action, especially in the face of overwhelming global events such as bushfires, social justice movements, and the pandemic. This widespread disconnection, coupled with continued investment in fossil fuel subsidies by global leaders, has slowed meaningful progress.

The World of Excuses is an interactive platform designed to combat climate inaction by turning common excuses into visual threats, represented as asteroids hurtling toward Earth. Users can explore each excuse, learning through a variety of engaging tools that move users from passive awareness to engaged action.

  • Thesaurus Rex—a Chrome plugin for understanding fossil fuel terminology

  • The Voice of Reason—an Alexa skill offering witty rebuttals to climate myths.

  • The Birds and The Bees - an e-book that empowers younger audiences with arguments to engage their parents and peers.


Role:
UX Lead, user flows and wireframes, ideation, digital strategy, UX writing


Impacts:
1 million website visits. Pick up by major news outlets like CNN, BBC, Forbes, ABC and others from 98 countries. Resulted in fossil fuels subsidies being added to the COP26 agenda.
